Agreement and application license
These terms describe use of diskpress.app and the DiskPress macOS application, provided by Ighor July. By using the website or application, you agree to the applicable terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
DiskPress downloaded from the Mac App Store is licensed under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, unless the App Store listing supplies a different applicable license. These terms add website conditions and product-specific information. They do not replace the App Store license. If there is a conflict, the applicable app license and non-waivable legal rights control.
What DiskPress does
DiskPress optimizes supported local files through native lossless filesystem compression and clone-based deduplication. You select files, authorize locations, configure settings, and decide whether to run one-time work, command-line operations, or automatic monitoring.
Optimization changes a file's physical storage representation while preserving its logical contents and path. It may replace a file with a verified compressed or cloned version and remove the temporary original after successful completion. It is not a backup service, archive manager, file-recovery product, or general Undo system.
Application bundles, executables, system locations, and other protected or unsupported targets are excluded. App Archiver is a separate product for supported Mac applications and is subject to its own terms.
Your responsibilities
- Only process files you own or have permission to modify. Respect other people's rights and any applicable software, data, or organizational restrictions.
- Maintain an independent, usable backup of important data before optimization. Verification and recovery safeguards do not eliminate every storage risk.
- Choose locations and exclusions carefully. Review initial results before enabling recurring or scripted work.
- Allow cancellations and recovery operations to finish. Preserve any material identified by an unresolved recovery message.
- Control any scripts or AI agents you authorize. Their commands can change file storage just as manual optimization can.
Do not use the website or app to interfere with another person's data, evade access controls, infringe rights, or violate applicable law. These terms do not restrict activities that the law or an applicable open-source license expressly permits.
Results and compatibility
There is no guaranteed compression ratio, amount of free space, processing speed, or compatibility with every file and volume. Files may be skipped or produce no useful saving. Example screenshots and possible percentage savings illustrate outcomes, not a commitment about your Mac.
Deduplication savings are estimates of shared storage. macOS available space, reclaimable space, current measured savings, and recent optimization history are different measurements. Snapshots, filesystem accounting, and concurrent writes may affect the result you see.
Existing compression and sharing can remain after DiskPress quits. Later edits, replacements, copies, updates, or third-party software may change or remove those savings. Current compatibility and behavior are described in the FAQ and the installed version's help.
Mac App Store purchases and refunds
Apple processes Mac App Store purchases and applies its Media Services Terms. Check the listing for the current price and regional availability. The website does not collect payment-card information.
For an App Store refund, use Apple's refund request process. Eligibility follows Apple's policies and applicable law. Nothing here limits a refund, remedy, or consumer right that the law requires.
Privacy and third-party services
The app works offline and contains no analytics or telemetry. The website uses Plausible and hosting infrastructure. The privacy policy explains the separate handling of app records, website requests, and support messages.
Links to Apple, developer websites, and other services are provided for convenience. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. Your chosen AI agent or automation software also remains responsible for what it stores or transmits. DiskPress does not operate those third-party services.
DiskPress and this website are not sponsored or endorsed by Apple. Apple, Mac, macOS, and related marks belong to Apple Inc. Other product names and marks belong to their respective owners.
Warranties, liability, and consumer rights
The app's warranty and liability provisions are governed by its applicable App Store license. To the extent permitted by law, the website and its information are provided "as is" and "as available", without a promise of uninterrupted availability or suitability for every purpose.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, overrides statutory guarantees, or reduces mandatory consumer protections. Any limitation applies only to the extent your applicable law permits. The website's explanatory content does not create a separate guarantee of storage savings or data recovery.
Updates, availability, and contact
The app and website may change as macOS, filesystem behavior, and product features evolve. There is no promise of support for every future operating-system version or third-party workflow. App Store availability and updates also depend on Apple.
These terms may be revised for future use. The date above identifies the current version. Material revisions will be noted on this page and will not take away rights that applicable law protects.
